I know it is durable, because as the family worked to transform it, parts were snaping off right and left...very frustrating. The durability rating comes at a 5, because these parts were designed to snap off and then snap back on so it doesn't permanently break the piece. Overall, I think that is nice (considering that the old transformers didn't have this feature and many of them broke when a child was trying to get them back into a different form).
The biggest frustration with the toy, however, comes from the instructions. They are not clearly written, and we found that most of the time we tried to do what the instructions said, found it unclear or impossible to do, and ended up fiddling around with the toy until enough shoving and twisting made a piece move into something closer to the picture (We eventually stopped trying to follow the instructions because it was easier to just fidget with the parts until they looked more like the picture on the package).
The other frustrating thing with the instructions is that it only gives you instructions for transforming the toy into robot mode. The instructions to transform back are simply to go in reverse. With other transformers, this is not as frustrating because it starts out NOT in robot mode. This toy starts in robot mode, so the instructions are even more difficult to follow because you are going in reverse.
Overall, the toy is just frustrating for many reasons. It doesn't transform easily, the instructions are not clear, and the toy makes me want for the old transformers that I could transform as a six-year old with no engineering degree.
