The femmes in Bayverse really get the proverbial shaft--it took until a few weeks ago for the third of the cyclebots (originally called Flareup, now, apparently, Elita-One, despite the fact that Elita got killed in canon in Reign of Starscream hahahaah Bayverse canon, you giant migraine in the making!!)and Arcee's back, repackaged with a new Con: Tailwhip.
Arcee's Arcee--a solid figure and if you like the cyclebots, you'll like her (it's a love/hate thing with the aesthetics) so I'm going to talk about Tailwhip.
He is a pain in the butt to transform. Almost as bad as Deluxe Ironhide (gaaaaaah!) and his rotor thing which you see in the packaging...just doesn't work. You see in his bot mode the rotorblades split in half, and mounted pointing up on each shoulder. Yyyyyyyeah. Good luck with that. The connection to the arm is loose and sloppy. You'll be lucky if the rotor doesn't just plop right on the floor. As for getting it to stick up like that? Ain't gonna happen.
He's one of the Shanghai decos--the big new thing--but is a new mold (he's not a repaint of Grindor, etc). His copter mode is sleek and nice (once you get it!--there's a bit of trouble with the torso/cockpit that all the instruction sheet in the world will not help you with!) and has a cute little push gimmick to spin his rotor.
For a two-pack, it's a reasonably good value and two good figures, as opposed to Hasbro's continual attempt to stick us with Mudflap or Yet Another Bumblebee.
I don't know how well he'd stand up to tough play--I'm a collector and gentle with my toys and I had a few joint pop-outs with him. But for collectors, he's a nice one.
