(More customer reviews)A very intersting and cool addition to the Commemerative Series of the Generation 1 Transformers toy line.
On the surface, Ricochet looks like just a Jazz figure painted black, but it is so much more. Originaly it was only available in Japan during the first run of the Generation 1 back in 1987 The idea was to get some of the bigger original car molds into the new Targetmaster line of Transformers. The Jazz mold was one of them chosen for this honor and was repainted black and given golden boardered firebolt stickers to replace his racing numbers and was given the name Stepper. They added an extra hole to the back of the vehicle and he got a targetmaster partner to complete the new toy. Now for the first time ever, released in North American shores and given a new name of Ricochet. This is a great addition to any Generation 1 fan or any Transformers fan to add to their collections.
Overall the toy is the same as the Jazz figure. A mixture of die cast metal and plastic with a good color scheme and pretty complete look to it. Usualy Targetmasters came with only the Targetmaster weapon, Ricochet comes with some regular weapons as well making him a one robot army.
Its great to see that Hasbro is going in this path as it is great to get all the figures we had when they were out 20 years ago, it is also great to get things we weren't able to as they were country exclusive. I hope that Hasbro continues on this path with a mixture of both previous favorites and unknown treasures that made up the very impressive and welcomed Generation 1 toy line.
You won't be sorry making Ricochet a part of your Commemerative Series collection. It's something fresh and well colored yet at the same time very familiar. The only true drawbacks would be that we learn very little of the character from the bio card and the card doesn't even go into his Targetmaster partner Nightstick. Would have been nice if Hasbro had put some effort into giving them both a good write up so we can add them to our Transformers histories as if they always belonged. Very minor and takes nothing away at all from the figure but just little minor things that would have made it even greater.
